LedgerLens Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 21, 2026. LedgerLens is a Chrome extension that runs a read-only diagnostic on the QuickBooks Online company you are viewing and produces a findings report.
1. What LedgerLens accesses
When you click Run Diagnostic on a QuickBooks Online page, LedgerLens reads the report data already displayed on that page (e.g. Balance Sheet, A/R & A/P Aging, Transaction List, Journal, Customer/Vendor Balance Detail) so it can run its checks. This access is:
- Read-only. LedgerLens never writes to, edits, creates, deletes, or submits anything in QuickBooks Online.
- On-demand. It reads only when you click Run Diagnostic, only on the active QuickBooks Online tab. It does not run in the background or on any other website.
- Scoped. The extension only operates on
*.qbo.intuit.compages.
2. How your data is processed
All diagnostic processing happens locally, in your browser. The report data is read, the checks are run, and the findings report is generated on your device. This financial data is not transmitted to LedgerLens or to any third party, and LedgerLens does not retain a copy of it after the diagnostic finishes.
3. What is stored on your device
LedgerLens stores a small amount of data locally in your browser only (via
chrome.storage.local), never on our servers:
- Your firm name and logo, used to brand the report.
- Your license status.
- A work-in-progress diagnostic snapshot for the company you are reviewing, so findings can accumulate as you visit each report. This stays on your device and can be cleared anytime with the Start over button.
No client financial data, findings, or report content is stored on any server we control.
4. What leaves your browser
The only outbound request LedgerLens makes is an anonymous license verification (to confirm whether you have a paid license). This request never includes any QuickBooks Online data, snapshot, finding, or report. If you use a payment provider to purchase a license, your payment is handled by that provider under its own privacy policy; LedgerLens does not receive or store your full payment details.
5. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
- We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
- We do not transfer your data to third parties except as needed to run the license check and (if you pay) the payment provider — never your financial data.
- We do not access browsing history, other tabs, or any non-QuickBooks Online site.
6. The LedgerLens website & launch list
This policy covers the extension. Separately, the LedgerLens website (this marketing site) lets you join a launch list by entering your email. If you do, we store only your email address and light context (which page you signed up from, the referring link, and the date) so we can email you when LedgerLens launches and about the product. We do not sell or share it, and you can ask to be removed at any time via the contact channel below. This is entirely separate from the extension, which never sends us any QuickBooks Online data. Giving your email is optional — the free checklist and the site are fully usable without it.
7. Chrome Web Store Limited Use compliance
LedgerLens's use of information received from Google APIs and from the pages it runs on adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used solely to provide the diagnostic feature you invoke, is processed locally, and is not sold or used for any unrelated purpose.
8. Independence & disclaimer
LedgerLens is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Intuit. "QuickBooks" and "QuickBooks Online" are trademarks of Intuit Inc. LedgerLens runs automated checks and is provided "as is"; it is not financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice and may not detect every issue.
9. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Questions about privacy can be sent to the contact channel listed on our Chrome Web Store page.
